Wegovy

Wegovy® (semaglutide) 2.4 mg injection is a prescription injectable medication used in conjunction with a calorie-reduced diet and increased physical activity to reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as death, heart attack, or stroke in adults with known heart disease and either obesity or being overweight. It can also help adults and children 12 years of age and older with obesity, or some overweight adults who also have weight-related medical problems, to lose excess weight and maintain a healthy weight.

Is this medication used for weight loss?

Semaglutide is a prescription medication used to support weight loss and reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular problems. It is available as a liquid solution in a pre-filled injection pen. It supports weight loss and long-term weight management in adults and children 12 years of age and older with obesity.

Is this medication more effective than Saxenda?

This medication leads to greater weight loss than Saxenda. Although Wegovy and Saxenda work in the same way in the body, their results can differ. Current research suggests that Wegovy, in combination with a calorie-reduced diet and regular exercise, is more effective for weight loss than Saxenda.
